They feel the presence of them at the film festival takes the focus off of the films themselves. They want to be more of a voice and representation for independent film makers.

Most of them require the film makers to submit their film for review well in advance of the film festival. Only the best of them are selected for viewing so you can be assured you will be seeing plenty of quality material. Sometimes there is a fee for submitting the film for review but it is generally very low. In most cases the cost is $50 or less.
