Decorative gourds are popular especially during the fall or whenever the harvest is. There is an art to creating decorative gourds. First, if you live in a climate that is suitable (they prefer a warm climate) you can grow your own gourds. Or, you can simply purchase them in the store when they become available. If you don’t have the proper climate and you can’t find them in the store, consider looking online for them. If you want to make your own decorations out of them this is a good thing to do. Another option is to purchase fake gourds. These will also work for your projects.

Gourds can be used in a variety of fall related decorating schemes. They work well in autumn wreaths and centerpieces and other festive things. The reasons why these are typically used in decorations for the fall is because that is when they become available. They are pretty much considered a representation of the autumn, Thanksgiving, and of falling leaves. Decorative gourds are a good way to celebrate the harvest.

After you obtain the gourds you will need to figure out what you want to do with it. If you want to make a wreath, you will need to find smaller gourds so they will fit. You can also lay gourds out throughout the house. A fun project is to hallow a gourd and dry it out. You can then make a candle out of the shell by pouring wax and a wick inside. Just be careful and watch it while it burns.
