Our transportation problem appears to be a twofold one. First, gasoline has become painfully expensive, making car travel much more challenging on the pocketbook than it used to be. And although the cars of today tend to use more gas than the more fuel efficient autos of the last century, few families are inclined to try to fit a large family into a small car of old. Particularly in light of the new federal regulations regarding the use of large car seats for small children. The other issue that we face is the deterioration of our environment as we know it. We all realize that the gas guzzling, pollution emitting vehicles of today are contributing to the problem. But few of us know what to do about it.

Hence, the arrival of hybrid cars to the auto marketplace. Hybrid cars are more fuel efficient and less polluting than most of the cars of today. They get much better gas mileage, as much as 20-30 miles more for each gallon of gas. This makes hybrid cars easier on the pocketbook as well. But how do these cars work, and are they really the solution of the future for our many fuel and environmental concerns? When you learn more about these vehicles, you may agree that hybrid cars are indeed the transportation that we will all be looking at in the not so distant years ahead.

How Hybrid Cars Run

The term hybrid generally refers to something that is made up of two different substances. In the case of a hybrid car, the two different substances are the manner in which the car runs, and this consists of a motor that runs on two different power sources. The traditional gasoline engine is combined with the more environmentally friendly but less stable electric motor. This type of power combines the best of both worlds, to create a hybrid car that is friendly for the environment because it is less polluting and easier on the pocketbook because it uses less gas to run.

In a hybrid car, there is usually a small gas engine that is designed to be more fuel efficient than many of the other gas engines on the road today. It is combined with an electric motor that assists the car when accelerating, thereby using less gas to run the vehicle. The power behind this electric engine is batteries inside of the vehicle that actually recharge themselves while the car is running. This alleviates the need for recharging time that is often required for many electric cars. It also allows the car to go much longer distances without a need for refueling or recharging.

There are a number of auto manufacturers that have hybrid cars on the market today, including Honda, Toyota and Lexus. However, the popularity of these vehicles has made them difficult to find in many locations. The good news is that there will be many more hybrid cars to choose from in the months and years ahead. Are hybrid cars the wave of the future? The verdict is still out, but all signs are pointing to a definite yes.

If you have been in the market for a new car recently, you may have seen advertisements and articles about the new hybrid cars. These automobiles sound quite attractive on the surface, since they can get up to 20-30 more miles to the gallon than their traditional counterparts. Many of the big auto manufacturers have jumped on the new hybrid car bandwagon, including Toyota, Honda, Lexus and Saturn. But what are these new hybrid cars and what can one of them do for you?

How Does a Hybrid Car Run?

A new hybrid car combines two different power sources that work together to create an engine that is incredibly fuel efficient and much less polluting than the typical gasoline engines of today. A small gasoline engine is found in the new hybrid car that is designed for maximum fuel efficiency. In addition to the gasoline engine, there is an electric motor that is powered by batteries located inside of the car. These batteries are recharged through the running of the car, alleviating the need for an elaborate charging system at home and limited use of the car.

The new hybrid cars combine the best of both worlds. You get the long-running, easy maintenance of a traditional gasoline engine. You also get the environmentally friendly, low fuel requirement of an electric motor. The result is a new hybrid car that will run efficiently and cleanly on gas and electricity. This concept has made these new hybrid cars a popular choice for many who are in the market for a new vehicle. However, the technology is still new, and the supply is still greatly limited.

Where to find a Hybrid Car

Today, there are only a handful of the new hybrid cars on the market. They come in a variety of manufacturer names, and in a choice of styles, including SUV’s and compact sedans. However, it is not easy to find these types of cars at many locations, since the supply was bought up rather quickly after they made their appearance on new car lots. The good news is that plans are in the works for even more car manufacturers to make even more models of these new hybrid cars in the months and years to come.

It is possible that the new hybrid cars will gradually take their place as the most popular vehicles on the road. Keep your eyes open for the hybrid cars at the auto dealers in your town or city.

We all know that something needs to be done about the state of our environment. After all, if we continue the trend that we have started of polluting and damaging the world around us, it may not be able to continue to provide us with the healthy elements we require for a healthy life. But solutions to the environmental issues are few and far between. Take our transportation situation, for example. We have become a society that is increasingly dependent on the use of cars to get around, as our world and neighborhoods have become bigger and more spread out. But cars are known polluters, and the cost of gas is beginning to limit the distances that we want to drive. We need a solution to this dilemma, and two of the possibilities that scientists are studying are electric and hybrid cars.

Electric Cars

Electric cars run on an electric motor that is powered by a battery or series of batteries. These batteries need to be recharged periodically, usually after 50-100 miles of use. While this type of vehicle is very environmentally friendly because it produces almost no pollution, the fact that is must be recharged so frequently makes it a very inconvenient choice for many car owners. The other problem is that the recharging process has traditionally been a long and inconvenient one for the average car user. This is why you haven’t seen too many electric cars on the road at this point. However, by combining the electric and hybrid cars, you can create an automobile that is non-polluting and fuel efficient.

Hybrid Cars

When it comes to electric and hybrid cars, the latter may be the more desirable choice for the large majority of car owners. While both the electric and hybrid cars use less fuel and emit less pollution, the hybrid cars are designed to go longer distances with less maintenance in between. This means that you can reap the benefits of using less fuel, which is a huge savings today when you consider the high cost of gasoline, with a vehicle that is much more convenient to use. Hybrid cars combine the ease of a small gas engine with an electric motor that is capable of recharging itself. You end up with a cleaner vehicle that can go longer distances on less fuel. The electric motor aids in the acceleration process, and also enables the car to turn itself automatically off and back on at stops, saving plenty of fuel for maximum efficiency.

While both electric and hybrid cars fit the bill when it comes to environmental friendliness, the hybrid car may be the vehicle of choice when it comes to convenience and ease of use. Consider a hybrid car for your next family vehicle and count the many benefits that you will receive.

Hybrid cars are gaining more and more popularity in recent months, with much positive publicity regarding their fuel efficiency and environmental friendliness. At a time when many folks are suffering from acute sticker shock every time they have to fill their gas tanks, a solution to this dilemma will be a welcome one indeed. Hybrid cars may indeed be the solution that everyone is searching for. But what are these new-fangled vehicles, and how do hybrid cars work? When you hear the answers to these questions, you may agree that this new creation may be the wave of the future.

How Hybrid Cars Work Inside

The traditional automobile of today is powered by a gasoline engine. This means that the car requires regular gasoline in order for the motor to operate and the car to run. With gasoline becoming a rather expensive commodity today, other fuel sources are being sought to get us where we want to go. Electric power has long been thought to be the next trend in automobiles. However, an electric engine requires a battery source to run, and these batteries need to be recharged frequently to keep them operational. Not a convenient choice for the average car owner who needs regular transportation without a long and complex maintenance process.

Maximum Fuel Efficiency with Minimum Pollution

Now there is a third solution. To learn how hybrid cars work, you must combine the power sources of a gasoline engine with the battery of an electric motor. The result is a hybrid car that uses less fuel and a rechargeable electric battery in tandem to produce a fuel efficient, environmentally friendly automobile. Here is how hybrid cars work. The electric motor is used to assist in the acceleration process of the car, saving on the fuel needed to make the car run. It can also automatically turn the engine off when the car stops, and turn it back on when the car starts up again. This process also saves on the amount of fuel required.

There are other ways in which the hybrid cars gain gas efficiency. First, the gasoline engine is designed for maximum fuel efficiency. The electric motor also slows the car and recharges the battery while the car is slowing down. These vehicles are also designed to be aerodynamic and lightweight, which also contributes to the fuel efficiency. Hybrid cars can get up to 20 or 30 miles a gallon more than the tradition gas engine car can. If you want to learn more about how hybrid cars work, talk to your Honda, Toyota, Lexus or Saturn dealer today about their choices in hybrid vehicles.

Whenever a new product comes on the market, the public must be convinced that this is a product that they cannot live without. The benefits and advantages of the new versus the old must be compelling if you are going to convince shoppers to switch to new fangled brands and items. This is most definitely the case when it comes to marketing hybrid cars. When such a new technology becomes available for the average Joe, he must be sold on the positives of becoming one of the first to own this new technology. This wasn’t terribly difficult in the case of a fuel efficient car that was introduced at a time when gas prices were skyrocketing. In fact, the marketing of hybrid cars was so effective; it is hard to find any of these vehicles available for sale today.

Showing Benefits when Marketing Hybrid Cars

The obvious benefits that were used in marketing hybrid cars were the fuel efficiency and the environmental friendliness of these vehicles. Fuel efficiency was the first advantage, since many of the cars will reap 20-30 more miles to the gallon than similar styles that are not hybrid vehicles. Marketing hybrid cars revolved primarily around getting this information out to the general public. Once people realized how much they could save in gasoline prices simply by switching to a hybrid vehicle, the sales began to boom. The reason for this amazing fuel efficiency is the combination of a small gasoline engine that works in tandem with an electric motor that can recharge itself with the help of the gasoline engine. Amazing technology that results in a car that needs less fuel to run.

The other benefit that was used in marketing hybrid cars was the environmental friendliness of these vehicles. First, burning less fuel is good for the environment for obvious reasons. These hybrid vehicles also have much cleaner emissions, meaning that their capacity for polluting the environment is much less. Since many folks today are very concerned about the state of our environment, marketing hybrid cars for their cleanliness and lack of pollution was smart marketing indeed. And certainly finding vehicles that are good for our environment will be a huge benefit to everyone, drivers and non-drivers alike.

The Effectiveness of Marketing Hybrid Cars

These benefits were so desirable, and the marketing of hybrid cars so effective, you can hardly find one of these vehicles on car lots today. The entire first wave of these automobiles has been sold. The good news is that many auto makers are in the process of getting additional hybrid cars out to the consumers as soon as they possibly can. By next year, the marketing of hybrid cars will include a large number of vehicles of every make, model and size for our driving pleasure.

There is much in the news these days over the need for alternative energy sources for cars. While there have always been a number of benefits to alternate fuel sources, the current outrageous spikes in gasoline prices have led to increased public desire for an alternative to purchasing gasoline. At an average of $3 a gallon, an individual who burns two gallons of gas on the way to work and an additional two gallons on the way back is spending $12 a day. That equals $60 a week which translates into $3,000 a year. That is quite a bit of money and when one considers the fact that gasoline was only $1.40 a gallon a decade ago, the spike in prices is somewhat outrageous. This is why there has been renewed and increased interest in electric cars and hybrid cars. From this there has derived obvious questions that have morphed into a debate over the merits of hybrid vs electric cars.

Basics: Hybrid vs Electric Cars

Hybrid cars are cars that can burn regular gasoline as well as ethanol fuel. (Ethanol is a non-oil based fuel that comes from corn) Electric cars are cars that operate on a rechargeable battery. Several years ago, prototype electric cars were offered on the marketplace, but the cars failed for a number of reasons.

Hybrid vs. Electric Cars - Edge to Hybrids

There are a number of problems that currently exist that can preclude the advancement of the electric car in the marketplace. These problems, however, may be corrected over time, but at present, these problems are restricting the growth of the electric car in the marketplace. The problems include the following: the amount of miles that on can drive a car on the capacity of the current design of electric batteries are fairly limited and there are very few charging stations in the United States that can re-charge a car when the battery dies. Needless to say, it would be fairly difficult to drive a car long distances or even up and back to work if the electric car was susceptible to running out of power and the ability to recharge the car was limited. Additionally, any repairs that may be necessary can be somewhat difficult to have performed because it may be difficult to find a repairman who understands the complexity of an electric car. Upon examining these potential problems, hybrids have an edge in the hybrid vs electric car debate. While the hybrid vs electric car debate between which is the best has not yet been decided, it would seem the edge leans towards toward hybrids.

Hybrid cars are starting to gain a modicum of popularity in the world market and this popularity seems to be growing. Current fears regarding climate change combined with rising costs of gasoline have led to great public interest in hybrid cars although this interest has not entirely yielded huge sales at present. This has led to many people wonder about the future of hybrid cars and this future is based on a variety of factors.

Ethanol and the Future of Hybrid Cars

The future of hybrid cars will always center on the state of ethanol as ethanol remains the active component within the internal combustion engine process that makes hybrid cars possible. Since ethanol derives from corn, the status of corn farming will always have an impact of the future of hybrid cars. This can be a somewhat curious status to predict because corn is also an important food source for many people and if corn supplies are directed towards fuel production there is a possibility that an unexpected negative impact can result from reduced food supplies. For example, in Latin America civil unrest almost developed when the production in ethanol threatened to cause food shortages. Because of this, ethanol production was slowed down. This is not to say increased production of ethanol will always cause food shortages because a process can always be set in motion to correct any potential hazards.

The Marketplace and the Future of Hybrid Cars

Ultimately, the future of hybrid cars will be based on marketplace demand. In other words, if there is adequate demand in the market place for increased production of hybrid cars and these cars sell and continue to sell strong, then the future of hybrid cars will be strong. Of course, there will always be a number of factors that will contribute to the success or failure of hybrid cars in the marketplace. One of the factors will be cost. This includes the cost of the car itself and the fuel costs associated with the car. At present, a hybrid car would save people a great deal of money in both those areas so this is a huge positive for the potential of the cars. The other area that will contribute to the success or failure of hybrid cars is sales and promotions. In other words, a solid advertising campaign would need to be set in place in order to stimulate public interest in the cars. Considering the skill of many ad companies, this should not be a problem and the future of these cars will look bright.

Since hybrid cars are slowly becoming all the rage for those who are seeking to promote energy independence, it should come as no surprises that deal minded individuals are looking to purchase used hybrid cars. Of course, used cars have their positive and negatives and associated risks. When it comes to purchasing used hybrid cars - or any cars for that matter - there are instances when purchasing a used can be quite a deal. In other instances, purchasing used cars can be a complete disaster. Ultimately, the positives or negatives associated with purchasing used hybrid cars will b based upon the prior owner of the car and the actual condition of the car.

Caveats Concerning Used Hybrid Cars

It has been said to avoid purchasing used cars because purchasing used cars is the equivalent of purchasing someone else’s problems. In other words, the mechanical defects of the car that currently exist will become the new owner’s problems and the need to repair these problems will be pawned off to the new owner. There is truth to this in the event that the car has mechanical problems. If the car does not have mechanical problems, then there should be no issue to contend with when purchasing used hybrid cars.

Single Owner Used Hybrid Cars

Probably the best way to avoid any associated problems with purchasing used hybrid cars would be to seek a car that is being offered privately by a single owner. This is not to say that one should avoid purchasing a car from a dealer or a lot, but potential consumers need to realize that purchasing from a single owner as opposed is a somewhat safer venture.

The Toyota Prius

Of course, in order to get the best deals on a used hybrid car, one needs to search for a hybrid car that has been established in the marketplace as a top of the line car. After all, a car that has a reputation for possessing high qualities would be a better purchase than one that is notorious for a multitude of problems. Of the hybrid cars, the Toyota Prius is one of the best reviewed models. The status of the Toyota Prius has reached loftiness mainly because it has consistently received top consumer reviews and has an established track record for being a reliable car. As such, a used Toyota Prius may be a solid choice if you are shopping for a used car.

People have a tendency to make up their minds as to whether or not to purchase hybrid cars without truly examining the answer to the question how do hybrid cars work? By not truly understanding the process of how hybrid cars work, people have a tendency to look at the cars as if they are something exotic and can be put off to purchasing. This is silly as simply examining the basics of the car’s operative process will remove any preconceived notions as to them being exotic are removed and the cars can be seen as part of the natural, evolutionary process of advancements in the realm of alternative energy.

When it comes to the benefits of a hybrid car, one of the main benefits is that these cars will get significantly more miles to the gallon that a ‘traditional’ gasoline car can achieve. When it comes to a simple matter of dollars and cents, a hybrid car can gain an additional 40 miles to a gallon. That is an enormous cost saving benefit and such savings have led to the expanded interest in the purchasing of hybrid cars. Now, while most people are familiar with the savings that these hybrid cars can provide, they are not entirely sure how the engines of a hybrid car can actually work. Because of this lack of knowledge in terms of the actual operation of the car, some people may be somewhat put off fro actually purchasing hybrid cars. This is a shame as a simple explanation as to how do hybrid cars work would put aside a number of concerns people may have that preclude them from making the actual purchase of the cars.

How Do Hybrid Cars Work - The Process

So, how do hybrid cars work? The way in which hybrid cars work is based upon the type of hybrid car one is using. If the hybrid car is an ethanol hybrid car, then a percentage of the fuel of the car will be derive from ethanol. In some cases, the percentage of ethanol that is used is roughly 10% of the fuel. While this may seem like a small amount, it actually reduces emissions significantly. Answering how do hybrid cars work in regards to electronic hybrids is as follows: an electronic engine splits the work with the gasoline fuel source. Currently, on the American market, electronic imports remain the most popular of the hybrid releases namely due to the fact that ethanol is a difficult fuel to find in certain areas.

Traveling has its pluses and minuses. There can be a great deal of excitement that is connected to visiting a new part of the world. Of course, there are also certain expenses that can be incurred when one travels and this is why those who do a great deal of traveling need to cut expenses where they are able. One way of saving money involves eschewing traditional rental cars and using hybrid rental cars instead.

If you are a person who travels a lot, you are also a person who needs to rent cars in order to get around in a new town. This is not something that is rare either as anyone who pokes their head around a major airport in the world will notice that there are a number of rental car services vying for all the competition that walks through the doors of these airports. What makes this competition interesting is the fact that a number of rental services are also starting to offer hybrid rental cars. This should come as no surprise to anyone as hybrid cars are widely becoming popular and any agency that offers hybrid rental cars will get a leg up on the competition.

Why Renting Hybrid Rental Cars is a Wise Choice

If you are new to a city, you may find yourself doing a lot of driving - whether you like it or not! That is to say, when you are unfamiliar with a new city, you will probably find yourself making wrong turns, heading into the wrong direction of your destination, or even just sightseeing. This, of course, will burn fuel whether you like it or not. As such, hybrid rental cars can save a great deal of money because they will have the ability to gain a significant amount of mileage to a degree far greater than what is common in gasoline powered cars.

Keep in mind, that travel is the only reason people will rent a car. Sometimes, a car accident or repair work will necessitate utilizing the services of a car rental agency. For some, a hybrid rental car would be a wise choice as a rental model mainly bcause it can act as an introduction to hybrid cars. That way, those individuals in the market for purchasing a new car can dispel any myths they might have towards hybrids prior to making a purchasing decision. More than likely, the rental experience will leave them with a positive impressions of hybrids and the popularity of hybrids will continue to grow,
