Car Exporting

With so many different types of vehicle available the concept of having them exported to other countries is very common. Individuals that move overseas for work or who are in the military often choose to have their car exported rather than having to sell it and then buy a new one when they get to their destination.

Before any shipping company can export your vehicle they have to receive verification that the vehicle legally belongs to you. This information has to be receiving at least three days prior to the date of your shipment.

When you export your vehicle from the United States you give customs the right to inspect your vehicle at any given time. In most cases it will be inspected before it is approved for shipment by customs. It will at the minimum be inspected for the quality of the vehicle at the time it is loaded. The governments are very strict on rules relating to vehicles that are exported. This is because of the possibility of theft in various criminal rings. If the vehicle are exported and resold it is virtually impossible that they will ever be recovered. For your protection make sure you have all the proper paperwork to export your vehicle as well as to claim it when it gets to the new destination.

If you don’t have a legal title to the vehicle you may have to get written information from the financing company that you are in good standing on your payments and they authorize you taking the vehicle out of the country.

The United States government is also concerned about car export funds being used for terrorism. The United States exports more than $1 billon of cars each year and it is important to know that they are all legally owned by the people having them moved whether it is an individual or a dealership.
