Exporting
Exporting is the concept of sending goods from one country to another. Almost all countries have a surplus of items they manufacture and ship to other countries. In return they are able to purchase the various goods they need from other countries. The items coming in are called imports. There are strict guidelines and inspections regarding exports. The guidelines often involve lengthy contracts between the various countries as well as the businesses supplying the products.
The United States exports more than $1 trillion worth of goods each year so the impact those contracts have on the economy of the country are quite significant. Most exports are moved via vessels in the ocean but airplanes are also used to ship various commodities as well. This is especially true for items that can parish quickly because a ship takes longer to get the items to their destination.
Exporting is a very significant type of business that takes place all over the world. Without it people would find many items they take for granted would either not be available or they would be too expensive to purchase. Exporting allows everyone in society to reap the most benefit from what their environment is able to produce.
Over the years the United States has been criticized for monopolizing exporting with some countries. This has been due to political concerns including nuclear weapons. The US has also been accused of bullying other countries not to export to such areas as well. Many say this is acceptable as the United States has the power to control how they won’t to use their export abilities. However many disadvantaged countries believe the United States shouldn’t be able to manipulate the overall economy in that manner.
The guidelines and rules for exporting are designed by the Bureau of Industry and Security. They randomly search and inspect items that are to be exported. They do so to verify that the goods being sent are of acceptable quality. They also make sure that illegal items including guns and drugs aren’t being exported under the guise of legitimate goods. They also have to make sure individuals aren’t stowing away in the cargo areas to be transported to another country.
