Food Exports

Food exports are a very common product that most countries are able to reap financial rewards from. Most countries export their surplus foods so that they don’t go to waste. This is very important for foods such as fruits and vegetables that can quickly spoil.

Before any foods can be exported they have to be inspected for quality. A certificate has to be issued that states the food has been checked for freshness and that it is properly packaged for exporting.

They also have to meet any guidelines that have been put into place by the country that will be receiving them. The United States has the strictest guidelines when it comes to accepting food exports from other countries. If the items don’t meet their set guidelines they will refuse to accept them.

The United States has some uneasy issues at hand right now with China due to the abundance of food exports from there that are refused. A few of the reports are quite scary though. They include peas that tested positive for pesticides, catfish that had traces of drugs, and plums that were covered with dirt and mold. It is quite understandable why such items would not be accepted as suitable to pass on to the people of the country they were exported to.

Other countries are continually trying to improve their standards for food exports. The Philippines has just implemented a new five step plan to ensure all of the food they export will be accepted upon reaching its destination. The plan includes investing in newer equipment for storing and moving the food they plan to export.

One of the main food exports from the United States is dry beans. They are sent to Mexico, the United Kingdom, and Canada. They are also the leader in exporting wheat to other areas of the world. They ship plenty of food to Hawaii because they don’t have the ability to grow much more than fruits on their own.

Anyone who has visited Hawaii can tell you food is quite expensive. Many people think it is a way to make money fast because of the high rate of tourism they have there. However the fact is almost all the food has to be exported to them and that is very expensive. They don’t have much of a surplus to send out to other countries to help offset that expense.
