The competitions have several categories including the best tasting for each kind of soup and an original soup contest. The prizes for such competitions include trips, cash, and your recipe being published in a cookbook.
If you didn’t get a homemade soup recipe from your family, don’t worry. There are cookbooks available with fabulous types of soups to choose from. The internet is a great resource as well. You can find several recipes for any type of soup with the click of a button. Most are in printable form. I have saved files of recipes on my computer. One of my files holds soup recipes that I have come across.
There are basic ingredients used for soups. Broth is a base for soups such as chicken noodle. Vegetables and meats are the majority of soup ingredients. You can then specialize your soups by being creative an adding the items you like to eat. I have a friend that makes homemade potato soup. Her recipe includes lobster meat. While that doesn’t appeal to me, she loves to eat it.

The combination of being easy to make, good to eat, and the option to personalize the recipe is exciting. Soup is classified by some as a comfort food. It fills a person up and it is generally easy to digest.
