Band

Band is one of the most popular extracurricular activities that students get involved in. Most schools allow student to join band in the 5th or 6th grade. This is a great opportunity to learn how to read music and how to play an instrument. Most students are responsible for purchasing their instrument or renting them from the school. Band students generally work hard to learn a set of songs that they can perform at school programs and at sporting events.

Extracurricular Activities

Extracurricular activities are those that take place under a school setting but they are not part of the required academics. Some common examples of extracurricular activities include band, sports, student government, choir, and working on the school newspaper. These types of activities help students develop their interests in a variety of areas. Many students are involved in more than one extracurricular activity at a time.

School Sports

School sports are a great way for students to get involved and to learn to interact with others. The most popular school sport is football as it seems most everyone in the school is either on the team or comes to the home games to cheer the team on. Basketball for both boys and girls is also quite popular.

Student Government

However for others the desire to take on leadership roles and to give the general public their chance to have a say starts at an early age. Student government is a great extracurricular activity for such individuals to participate in.
