<p>Just because you planned your own wedding doesn&#8217;t mean you can plan other weddings. It&#8217;s a good start but you aren&#8217;t in business yet. If you live in a small town, volunteer to help your friends plan their weddings. When you help them to create the wedding of their dreams with your creativity and eye for details, you will start to build a reputation. That happens all the time. Do you really think every wedding planner agrees with every bride she plans a wedding for? If you do, I have some real estate to sell you. The good wedding planner helps the bride to coordinate her ideas into a spectacular wedding.</p>
<p>A lot of wedding planning is steering the bride&#8217;s taste and ideas into something workable. Many brides come to the wedding planner with crazy, idealistic ideas that simply won&#8217;t work. The wedding planner&#8217;s job is to put her bride&#8217;s ideas into a realistic mix. She is part planner and part psychologist. She has to analyze her bride to see how she can steer her in the right direction. If that fails, then let the girl have an ugly wedding. At least one person will be happy.</p>
<p>If you intern in order to learn how to be a wedding planner, be ready to do the worst and most boring jobs. Until you prove yourself, you will be given only the most menial tasks. Of course, they also had the thrill of finding a wedding dress and the dresses for the bridesmaids. There were other small details but nothing a determined mother-of-the-bride couldn&#8217;t handle. The reception was literally a piece of cake. The local bakery provided the cake and the church ladies added punch. Don&#8217;t faint but most brides used paper products so there would be no mess to clean up. The wedding and reception lasted around two hours and then it was off to the honeymoon. That was then; this is now.</p>

<p>Planning a wedding today is not for the fainthearted. When weddings became extravaganzas, brides and their mothers began looking for help. They began to hire wedding planners. <p>After the deal is struck, the planning begins. Most brides have already done a bit of planning. Some brides already have a wish book to show her wedding planner. Together they need to decide on a theme. Yes, you have to have a theme to have a wedding. All of the planning revolves around the theme and, even more importantly, the budget. They also must come up with a color scheme, table decorations, reception arrangements, a wedding hall, church decorations, outfits for the wedding party, caterers, and a thousand other details. The list goes on and on.</p>
<p>The wedding planner&#8217;s main job is to take care of all the details of the wedding both large and small. She keeps the bride from being stressed and makes every wedding perfect. She is the fairy godmother for every princess bride. <p>Being multi-talented is a must for a wedding planner career. If you don&#8217;t have flair or a sense of style, you are in the wrong business. Creativity is also a must. You have to be able to look at a room and envision your client&#8217;s perfect wedding. You need to be able to visualize the room brimming with people surrounded by flowers and candles. Your bride&#8217;s vision must come to life in that room. The bride, the mother-of-the-the bride and everyone else must leave the wedding and reception feeling like they have just experienced the greatest day of their lives. If they don&#8217;t, you won&#8217;t prosper.</p>

Yes, with creativity and planning a lovely wedding is very possible on a small budget.</p>

<p>First comes the research. If the budget is small, you probably won&#8217;t want to hire a wedding planner. For a low budget wedding, this isn&#8217;t really necessary anyway. Research is so easy now with the advent of the Internet. If that doesn&#8217;t work, there is always the telephone. If you live in a small town, the research is pretty simple.</p>
<p>After the research, you are ready to do a budget. You already know how much you want to spend so now all you have to do is allot a certain amount of money for each item. The most expensive items are flowers and food. If the bride or groom doesn&#8217;t have a home church, a venue can also be pricey. Most churches don&#8217;t charge if the bride or groom is a church member. This certainly cuts costs.</p>
<p>If the venue is already pretty, decorations will not be very expensive. Most churches need only a little greenery and candles. Certainly you can also have flowers but that is going to cost more money. Don&#8217;t get carried away here. The florist will try every trick in the book to get you to double or triple the flower budget. Don&#8217;t be swayed by the more expensive flowers. A bouquet of daisies or a spring mix is perfect for a simple wedding. You should be up front with your florist. Tell her your budget and stand firm. If you are using a church, you can simply move some of the decorations into the fellowship hall after the wedding. No, that isn&#8217;t tacky. Another pretty idea is to use the bridesmaids&#8217; bouquets as decorations for the food table. People will simply think you are being smart and not wasteful. The bridesmaids won&#8217;t be carrying their flowers anyway.</p>
<p>Food is very expensive. If you are renting a venue, you will have to go with their caterer. If you are using a church, you can choose a caterer which usually saves money. If money is really a problem, you and your family can do your own catering. A wedding reception on a budget is a short reception. There is no law that you have to have a four course sit down wedding reception. If you do have to serve dinner because of the time of the wedding, opt for a buffet rather than a plated dinner. It&#8217;s cheaper in the long run.</p>
<p>If you are having a daytime wedding, Saturday or Sunday at 2:00 PM or 3:00 PM, you will need the least food. Most people have already eaten lunch and won&#8217;t be hungry. You can have cake, punch, cookies, fruit, and some sandwiches. People will be completely satisfied and you won&#8217;t waste so much food. You might even go to your local grocery store to see if they cater weddings. Publix and Kroger are great places to get everything you need for your reception. Have someone pick up the food, and your friends will be the servers. Don&#8217;t laugh; some of the best wedding cakes come from grocery store bakeries. The cakes are fresh and decorated just the way you want. The price is way cheaper than using a wedding cake vendor.</p>
<p>Having a nice wedding on a budget is challenging, but necessary for the savvy couple. Many couples either go into debt for the wedding or could have had a down payment on a house for what they paid for their wedding. Just change your thinking; a wedding is simply the first day of your marriage. What is really important? The marriage, of course, is of paramount importance.</p>
