According to recent studies, organic food actually contains more antioxidants compared to those that are produced with the use of pesticides, herbicides and other chemicals. Plants have natural defenses against infestations in the form of phenolic compounds. A good example of phenolic compounds is the flavonoids which are known to be antioxidants that prevent some forms of cancers. Phenolic compounds such as flovonoids are produced by plants when it tries to fight back against infestations such aphids and other forms of insects.
