Italian Pastries
Italian pastries are pastries that are commonly made in Italy or of Italian origin. In general, the Italians view pastries as something that should be eaten on special occasions. For every day dessert they are far more likely to have a piece of fruit or some dessert cheese than a complex pastry. However, pastries are things that are very much a part of the Italian cuisine. In fact, some of the desserts are created for special occasions. There is one kind of pastry that is eaten more often and that is biscotti. Those tend to be served with coffee on a more regular basis than some of the other desserts.
There are several different kinds of Italian pastries but some of them are more common than others. In the United States, some of the most well known pastries are cannolis and tiramisu. These can always be found in Italian bakeries and cafes and in some restaurants. Other pastries include ricotta pie (we know it as Italian cheesecake), pizelles (thin waffle-like cookies that look like snowflakes), and Italian wedding cookies, a thick cookie flavored with anise.
It is important to note that each Italian family may have their own version of the Italian pastry. When making pastries, people usually either use their family’s method or get a recipe from an Italian friend. If you want to learn how to cook Italian pastries you can either follow traditional recipes or ask a family member or friend to show you how to do it. You can also buy the Italian pastries in bakeries. There are plenty of bakeries and cafes all over the world that have Italian style pastries. Be careful that you find a shop that is owned by an Italian. If they are not owned by an Italian person or family you run the risk of not getting traditional recipes.
When it comes to pastries, Italian pastries are unique and flavorful. Traditional pastries such as tiramisu and cannolis are definite favorites. However, there are also several other desserts that are incredibly popular, especially in Italy. When considering that, it is clear that there are so many different kinds of Italian pastries out there that it would be hard to sample them all in one lifetime.
