There are principally two types of wine cellars. There are those that would be considered commercial infrastructure that are used for supporting a restaurant or wine business of some form such as those that are in operation at the vineyards. Then there are those wine cellars that are the personal operations of the wine connoisseur or other wine and food enthusiast. Many folks incorrectly consider wine cellars and wine refrigerators in the same way. In fact, traditionally, wine cellars are of much broader operation and may include several refrigeration plants and natural storage areas that are storing or staging wine for serving. Wine cellars of both types are managed in the same way. There is the logistics aspect of storing and staging wine for serving and then there is the management of the supply of the cellar.

Combing Food And Wine

There are perhaps two primary ways one can combine food and wine. One can do it by drinking the wine with the food you eat. The second mechanism will be to actually use the wine in the preparation of the food you or others are about to eat. Of course, one should always follow the second mechanism with the first, unless circumstances and timing suggest you should not. Combining food and wine is not suggested for those two young, too feeble, or too stupid to know the benefits, but most folks should do both if they are able. One can also actually participate in both mechanisms at the same time providing the most complex of combinations of food and wine.

It is true that there are 80 calories in a glass of the sweeter white wines and the calories are all in the alcohol. For most Chardonnays there are only about sixty calories. The higher the alcohol content of the wine the more calories the wine has. Typically, the drier the white wine tastes the less calories it has.

Defining A Wine Enthusiast

One may legitimately ask, what is a wine enthusiast? Is this a person who simply enjoys a drink or two of the good stuff? Or, is it someone who understands everything about the wines they drink. Is a wine enthusiast a person who can describe the strengths, tastes, textures and the process of wine making for any bottle presented to them? Perhaps the best definition of a wine enthusiast would be somewhere in the middle, with a stated objective to get a better understanding of the fine points over time and become a wine expert. Simplifying this down a level, one may frequently characterize the wine enthusiast into one of three classes.
