Fanlisting
Fanlisting is a fun way for fans of a particular subject such as an artist, show, or band to express their interest. Joining is free. Fanlisting.com is the official site to register for a particular fanlist. The only requirement is listing your name and your country. Your country is required so that each fanlist can see how widespread their particular interest is.
Many websites created by individuals offer the same thing. However, such sites are not deemed as being official. They can still be very fun and informative for fans. They offer a place to discuss what taking place with that subject and often a place to meet new people with a common interest. Many of these sites offer additional information related to the subject. For example, if the fanlisting is about a band there will likely be a biography for each member of the band, a discography, tour dates, and anything else relating to the subject.
If you create your own website, be sure it is designed to allow all types of browsers. If not, it will be very difficult for fans to access your site. This can be frustrating both for you and those who would like to be a part of your website fanlisting. It is also recommended that you monitor the content of discussions on a regular basis. Ground rules should be set for all members regarding content and showing respect to others.
As with any type of online discussion or chat room forum, use caution when entering a fanlist. Be careful about the type of information you give out. While the idea behind fanlists is to have fun, safety comes first.
Out of curiosity, I searched to find the most popular fanlisting for a movie. The result of my search found Pirates of the Caribbean on top. During my search, I discovered that there are thousands of fanlists. Everyone should be able to find one out there that matches their own interests!
