Federal Prisons

Federal prisons house inmates in the same manner as regular facilities, with the opportunity for work and education as well as rehabilitation. There are almost 194,000 federal inmates located at facilities throughout the United States. These prisons have committed a wide range of offenses, but most have to do with drug trafficking or white collar crimes. Others are there for acts such as the Oklahoma Bombing. Most have restitutions to repay, and their working income goes to that fund. In 2004, almost 9 million dollars was earned by inmates in Federal prisons and used for their restitution.

Winter Olympics

The 2006 Winter Olympic ceremony was held in Torino, Italy. A winter version of the Olympics began in 1908 when figure skating made an appearance at the Summer Games in London. Today, the biggest publicized and watched event of the Winter Olympics is the ice skating competition. The most controversial event being the luge.

Thanksgiving Day Parade

The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade is the most popular parade in the entire United States. It is held every Thanksgiving Day in New York City. It is sponsored by the popular and wealthy Macy’s Department Store. This parade is magical for people of all ages, taking them away from their usual hustle of daily routines into a world of floats, celebrities, and giant balloons. The parade is generally about 3 hours long, starting in the morning and finishing in time to enjoy a great turkey dinner. Traditionally, Santa Claus arrives on the last float, stopping at Herald Square.

Prison Life

Prison life is not easy. While most eventually adapt to their new way of life, it is not a walk in the park. Being in prison removes you from your family and society as a whole. Many of your basic everyday privilege are taken away. You do what you are told when you are told, and do it the way you are told to do it. There is no room for individuality. You are assigned a number when you enter the prison system. Everything you do is identified by this number.

Taxi Companies

There are many different taxi companies out there that offer excellent service. Most people don’t really pay too much attention to which tax cab company they use because they simply flag down a taxi that is in the vicinity or take the next one in line at the airport. If you have to call a taxi to come pick you up from somewhere then you will need to pick a specific taxi company.

Prison Inmate

A prison inmate is classified as any individual who has been required by law to serve a mandatory sentence in a facility that is enclosed as penalty for being convicted of criminal activity. The length of such a sentence varies by state, the nature of the crime, and the criminal history of the individual. In some cases, it also depends on if the individual chose to take a plea bargain or if they were found guilty by a jury trial.

Junior Olympics

The Junior Olympics were established in 1888. It has become the largest non-profit sports organization in the country. It is dedicated to the promotion and development of amateur sports and physical fitness programs. The goal of the organization is to establish standards and uniformity in amateur sports. The organization works closely with the Olympics to prepare athletes for the Olympic games. The organization focuses on improving sports programs for participants of all ages.
