Alcohol has been consumed for thousands of years by almost all civilizations. Americans have been drinking alcohol since the country was founded and in moderation, it can be a relaxing beverage. Many people come home from a hard day of work and unbind with a drink. How do you know, though, when that relaxing drink has taken over your life? How do you know when you become depend on it? Alcohol abuse in America is becoming a serious problem. Many people used to believe that alcohol abuse was a characteristic of a weak person, but now it is known that it is really a serious disease that has a chance of affecting us all.

Can Alcohol Addiction Take Over Your Life?

Drinking in moderation in our society is socially acceptable. Go to a sporting event and you will see major beer companies as sports teams corporate sponsors and their commercials are all over television. Most cities have several clubs or bars in them that serve alcohol. It’s a pretty common outlet for Americans while out having a good time. However, social drinking is quickly turning into an alcohol addiction for some people. For every thirteen people, one will suffer from some form of alcohol dependency, which is about seven percent of the population and more than 90,000 people die yearly in the states from alcohol related deaths.

In most cases, friends and family have pointed out to a person that there is problem there; maybe due to increases relationship problems, or job problems or other form of alcohol getting in the way of life.
