Alzheimer’s Disease is one of those things that afflicts the elderly as they get older. People with Alzheimer’s suffer memory loss and lapses and as the disease progresses they may need extra care in a home or have a live in nurse. The cause of Alzheimer’s is not exactly known, but it seems that certain things can help prevent it such as learning new skills even as you get older.

But it is important to pay attention to the symptoms of Alzheimer’s because early detection can help the disease progress a lot slower. Even though there is no cure, there are some things that you can do to halt the progress.

If you have Alzheimer’s, activities can help you out a lot. There are specific things you can do that can either prevent Alzheimer’s or help stall the progression of the disease. First of all, studies have shown that doing mentally engaging activities such as learning new skills, doing crossword puzzles, and things like gardening can help prevent Alzheimer’s disease. When the mind is not being used for high powered pursuits that puts you at greater risk.

Alzheimer’s care

Alzheimer’s disease can be a sad situation for everyone involved. As the disease progresses it may get to the point where the person may need some special Alzheimer’s care. In the early stages, it is fairly easy to care for people with Alzheimer’s. Care in this stage is actually not mandatory, especially not in the beginning. That is because memory lapses are common but not permanent and not necessarily frequent.

The Alzheimer’s Association is an organization that exists to help provide support for people with Alzheimer’s disease or the families and loved ones of those who have it. Alzheimer’s is a disease that affects mostly the elderly and it can cause disorientation, amnesia, and a host of other frustrating symptoms. As the disease progresses, the mind deteriorates to the point where the people with Alzheimer’s basically can’t function on their own because they can’t remember anything. Basically, it is one of those diseases that is really frustrating and really tragic. That is why the Alzheimer’s Association is so important.
