Alzheimer’s care
Alzheimer’s disease can be a sad situation for everyone involved. As the disease progresses it may get to the point where the person may need some special Alzheimer’s care. In the early stages, it is fairly easy to care for people with Alzheimer’s. Care in this stage is actually not mandatory, especially not in the beginning. That is because memory lapses are common but not permanent and not necessarily frequent.
But without the proper care, advanced Alzheimer’s patients would definitely cause harm to themselves and others. When the symptoms are severe, they need someone to look after them. This is because they often can’t remember how to do simple things like cook and dress themselves. Also, in this stage, it could be sad for loved ones to watch their wife or mother or friend or family member go through it. At this point, they will not remember who you are and can get severely disoriented.
If you have a loved one who is in advanced Alzheimer’s, care options are out there. There are a few choices. First, you can hire a live-in nurse to be part of your family to help see to the every day needs of your loved one. Another option is to put them in a nursing home or special home for people with Alzheimer’s. A lot will depend on your tolerance level for the disease and also the amount of money you have to spend.
Making the decision for Alzheimer’s care can be a tough one to make. People often feel guilt and don’t know what to do about the situation. But the fact is, sometimes the best care cannot be provided by you and you alone unless you make it a full time job. And people who require Alzheimer’s care have a need for 24 hour care. It can be tough to let them go and live with specialists in a home, but sometimes it is necessary. So if you have a loved one who has Alzheimer’s remember that you may not be the best to give them the care that they need. Look into the best options and make sure you do the ones that are best for your family. If not, it could be an upsetting situation.
