Alarms are designed to bring our attention to different events that are taking place. They often sound loudly so that they can’t be downed out by other activities that are taking place. Fire alarms are designed to notify you of smoke and fire in the area so you can remove yourself from the premises. It is a good idea to have fire alarms throughout your home so that they will be activated no matter where in the home the fire is at.

Security alarms are very popular for homes and for cars. This can notify you if someone is trying to break into them. In most cases the criminals will quickly run the other direction if they realize they have set off an alarm. They are very useful for businesses as well because most of them close at night. It can be easy to break a window and take merchandise if there isn’t a good alarm system in place to prevent it.

There are silent alarms as well that can be linked directly to law enforcement without alerting the criminals. These are often activated by personnel inside of businesses. The activation buttons are in various locations so that they can do it discretely. Banks commonly have such silent alarms in their branch so that they bank robbers can be quickly stopped in motion or apprehended as they leave the scene.

In some types of businesses alarms are sounded to notify employees of hazards. For example chemical plants often have an alarm system in place to tell employees there is a danger that needs to be contained. The training for such procedures varies by the employer and the type of business entity.

It is common for people to have a surge of adrenaline when they hear an alarm sounding. Since the are often associated with something bad taking place many people panic. This is why dills are conducted in schools and businesses. Everyone needs to know the right way to respond to the alarms that are sounding. It is a good idea to practice them at home as well. Children need to be aware of what a fire alarm sounds like in their home and what they need to do to get to safety.
