Electric Shavers
The majority of men and women find shaving to be a time consuming chore, but one that they have to complete. Electric shavers can make the process more enjoyable as they leave the shaved area very smooth and you are less likely to cut or nick yourself with an electric shaver.
There are many different models of electric shavers on the market to choose from. To make things even more convenient, there are many that are cordless. You simply place them into a holder that plugs into the wall when your charge starts running low. This makes it very easy to take an electric shaver with you while camping or on business trips.
Most of us have always known the option of an electric shaver was available, but this convenient method of shaving was not introduced until 1931 by Schick. They were sold for $25, which was quite a large amount of money at that time. While those who used this electric shaver were impressed, the company only managed to sell 3,000 of them during the first year they were marketed.
However, it didn’t take too long for the economy to improve and consumers to start buying them. By 1937 more than 1.5 million electric shavers had been sold. Of course by this time other manufacturers including Gillette had realized the selling potential for electric shavers and so Schick has plenty of competition. They were all designed the same so prices were what made the decision for consumers. The more the prices dropped, the more of them were sold.
In 1940 manufacturers began marketing electric shavers that were designed specifically for women to use. To stand out from the competition, Gillette took the initiative to offer electric shavers that were easier to hold and that were available in more colors than the standard black. This included a pink color for women to choose from.
Shaving can be quicker, and easier with the use of an electric shaver. While they cost more than disposable blades, they are safer and they offer a closer, smoother shave. You will also be able to use your electric shaver for several years without having to replace the blades so in time it will pay for itself.
