Becoming a lifeguard involves completing the necessary training program required to obtain a certificate in your state. The individual has to be an excellent swimmer and have the ability to remain calm in crisis situations. Since many lifeguards are high school or college aged showing that you are very responsible it important.

Lifeguard Training

If you enjoy spending time out in the sun and you are responsible, becoming a lifeguard could be a good way to spend your summer afternoons and make some spending money at the same time. First you need to successfully complete lifeguard training so that you have certification to be employed as s lifeguard. While the lifeguard training programs differ by facility they all have some common features ñ signs of a person in distress, rescue methods, and CPR.

There is a variety of equipment that a lifeguard has to be skilled in using. Most lifeguards have a whistle so they can single for individuals to stop the behaviors they are engaging in, to signal for swimmers to clear out from the swimming area, and to call other lifeguards for assistance.

Lifeguards

Being a lifeguard is mostly enjoying the sun as you watch other people swimming, but in those critical moments when a swimmer appears to be in trouble the lifeguard on duty has an obligation to do all they can to save the individual. That is a huge responsibility and one that should not be taken lightly. Yet we have all seen the cute lifeguard at the pool who is easily distracted by the attention of a pretty girl walking by.

Swimming Pools

Public swimming pools can be refreshing on hot days, but they can also be crowded. They also aren’t the best place for someone who is self conscious about their body. A good solution it to place a swimming pool in your own back yard. You can get an in ground pool or one that is above ground. While an in ground swimming pool is the best option, it also not practical for everyone. The cost of it as well as the amount of room it takes up just won’t work.

Water Parks

Water parks are a very fun and exciting way to spend a hot afternoon. They generally consist of numerous water slides that bend, turn, and swirl as you go. Each water slide is labeled so you know if it is appropriate for small children or not. Some of the rides at water parks are simple slides that you go down with only your body. Others require you to carry a small raft or floater to the top of the attraction and then go down. This can be difficult if you have small children who can’t assist you with carrying the equipment.
