If you have the right credentials you will easily be able to find a flight instructor job in most any area of the United States you wish to live in. You also have the choice of offering such lessons as an independent flight instructor or under the employment of an agency. Flight instructors make excellent wages but independents will tell you there are plenty of overhead costs associated with the business. The biggest one is the insurance because of the high risk of the students who will be operating the aircraft.

Flight Instructors

Flight instructors live a truly exciting life when you consider what it takes to teach another person to successfully operate every aspect of a small airplane, a commercial airplane, or even a military jet. They have to have a solid understanding of how each item works on the airplane and be able to convey that information to the person in training. They also have to be willing to trust the student to do the right maneuvers because of the danger involved when riding in an airplane. A slight mistake can lead to a major catastrophe.

Flying Solo

Flying any type of aircraft solo is something you can’t do until you have completed all levels of training. The various areas of training you need include the understanding of the basics, classroom hours of learning, emergency procedures, and passing a written exam along with an actual in flight exam.

Helicopter Flight Instruction

If you are interested in learning to fly a helicopter you have several viable options available to you. There are plenty of good flight schools where you can train in this specific area. You can also attend a helicopter flight school that offers very good instructors with high credentials willing to share their knowledge with you. There are also some independent helicopter flight instructors out there who offer lessons as a way to make extra money.

Pilot Schools

If you are interested in pursuing a job as a licensed pilot then you should take a look at the different pilot schools that are offered all over the Nation. The criteria for getting into these schools vary but generally you need to have a good academic background and strong leadership skills. Due to the events of September 11, 2001 all pilot schools now run a complete background check on potential students before they are admitted to the programs.
