Pilot Schools

If you are interested in pursuing a job as a licensed pilot then you should take a look at the different pilot schools that are offered all over the Nation. The criteria for getting into these schools vary but generally you need to have a good academic background and strong leadership skills. Due to the events of September 11, 2001 all pilot schools now run a complete background check on potential students before they are admitted to the programs.

It is important to understand that pilot schools aren’t a place where you simply learn how to fly an airplane. You will spend plenty of time in a classroom as well learning the various parts of the airplane, safety procedures, how to fly in various types of weather, and about navigation objectives in general. A good pilot school will cover each of these areas in depth so that you have a very solid foundation of the fundamentals you can build on.

Before you select a pilot school you need to have a basic idea of the types of airplanes you want to navigate. You also need to have an idea of what type of job you want when you graduate from the school. There are some pilot schools that focus on commercial airline instruction and others that are designed for obtaining a private pilots license.

Most of the good pilot schools are in very close proximity to an airport. If you find one that really captures your attention call them to schedule a tour. Pay close attention to the type of instructors they offer. This way you can decide if their learning style is one you will be happy learning under. You also want to work with a pilot school that only employs the best flight instructors with proper credentials. If possible take the time to talk with other students to see what they are happy with and concerned about with that particular pilot school.
