Grammar Exercises

Grammar consists of nouns, verbs, adverbs, adjectives, pronouns. If you are not sure what part of a sentence goes where or if a word should be capitalized, grammar exercises might by helpful to you. The goal of such exercises is to promote proper grammar skills. Spelling is a whole different area that grammar. While proper spelling is important, it does not affect the meaning of the sentence as grammar does. Grammar can be difficult because it is complex. For example, the rule says ‘i’ should go before ‘e’ but the exception is that if it is after the letter ‘c’, then the ‘e’ goes before the ‘i.

Plurals are also another area where a lot of errors are made. Some plural words change completely. For example cacti is one, cactus is many. Moose is moose no matter how many you are talking about. While schools do teach these important grammar exercises, it can be difficult to catch on. The longer you don’t understand it the harder English and spelling will be for you. This can make school a very dreaded experience for some children. Most English and grammar curriculums teach the six strands of English. They include reading, writing, and viewing, representing, listening, and speaking.

Tutoring can help with these grammar exercises. Students can also find them online, with many sites offering tips, quizzes, examples, and games to help you learn. Most of these sites are free. Students can also ask their teacher for additional help with homework if they don’t understand.

Language arts are taught to children beginning at an early age. Things like he vs. his and my vs. mine may seem trivia, but they are part of important mind deduction skills that children need to learn to build on. Grammar is very difficult to master, but with some additional help from available resources, it is possible to do well.
