Many people took a keen interest in the Declaration of Independence after the popular movie National Treasure featuring Nicholas Cage. The government has answered numerous inquiries about the possible hidden messages on the back of the Declaration of Independence. They firmly hold the stand that all that is printed on the back is the name of the document and the date it was signed ÃƒÂ± July 4th, 1776. However, many theorist and those who oppose the government believe it may hold the key to many secrets that the government themselves hasn’t uncovered or they carefully guard.

Founding Fathers

The 55 men who signed the Declaration of Independence are often referred to as the Founding Fathers of the United States of America. They were all political figures who put themselves on the line to gain freedom from the King of England. 70 men were elected to represent the colonies at the Constitutional Convention but many of them decided not to attend for fear of the penalty for doing so from the King of England.

George Washington

One of the most well know stories involving George Washington is about him chopping down his father’s cherry tree. When he was confronted by his father the young George said he could not tell a lie. He is also well known as the first President of the United States of America. Washington held the position from 1789 to 1797.

Thomas Jefferson

Thomas Jefferson became the 3rd President of the United States of America in 1800. He defeated John Adams in the first actual Presidential race since Washington left office due to serving two full terms. He is acknowledged as one of the most influential politicians of all time. He enforced the strict separation of Church and State, a regulation still in place today. Jefferson was elected for a second term as President as well.
