Declaration of Independence
Many people took a keen interest in the Declaration of Independence after the popular movie National Treasure featuring Nicholas Cage. The government has answered numerous inquiries about the possible hidden messages on the back of the Declaration of Independence. They firmly hold the stand that all that is printed on the back is the name of the document and the date it was signed ñ July 4th, 1776. However, many theorist and those who oppose the government believe it may hold the key to many secrets that the government themselves hasn’t uncovered or they carefully guard.
The Declaration of Independence is signed by all 55 of the delegates from the various states who came to the committee meeting they were invited to. 15 more delegates were invited but they choose not to attend. The purpose of the Declaration of Independence was to give the states the freedom to be their own entity without having to follow the rulings of England. This is a freedom we still celebrate every year on the Fourth of July.
The finished writings of the Declaration of Independence as we know it today was the result of various politics injustices that took place. There were many drafts before everyone agreed on the final copy of the document. Some of the various issues that led to the document being completed were the Tea Tax and Sugar Tax implemented on those items brought to the colonies. People simply could not afford the ridiculous prices being asked for these basic items. It was a way for England to have power over the colonies.
Anyone who was accused of crimes in the colonies could be called back to England to be tried for their crimes. The Founding Fathers saw no reason why this process should be taking place. They had the ability to make and enforce their own laws that were for the People and to protect the People. The concept that the People would have a say in who would be their leaders was a very powerful suggestion that was quickly embraced.
Many people don’t realize that the foundation for the Declaration of Independence was laid in 1976 with many actions strategically taking place in 1977 prior to the Declaration being signed. When it was read for the first time in public on July 8, 1977 it was met with cheers and hope from the people of the colonies.
