Androids
Androids are robots that are made to resemble humans. While it is quite obvious they are robots they have many characteristics of humans. Most androids have specific types of qualities for you to identify. For example some of them know dance moves and others know how to cook. Androids can be used for entertainment purposes or as part of a scientific experiment where it is too dangerous for actual humans to be used.
Androids are quite expensive to make. They average $60,000 each. You can have a customized android made to look anyway you want but it will cost you much more. There are celebrity androids that can be rented for a much more reasonable price. Most androids are developed through The Intelligent Robotics Lab in Korea.
The concepts of androids date back to the 1800’s but due to a lack of technology they were very basic. Still for their time period they were something that caught the attention of individuals. Over time they have been redesigned thanks to significant improvements in electronic maneuvers and technology.
The newer technology used in these androids give them the ability to complete many different types of facial expressions. They also have the ability to hold intelligent conversations on a variety of subjects. People find that there is quite a distinction between androids and robots when you add the element of human characteristics and features.
It is hoped added these human facial features will move androids from the area of science fiction and into something quite useful in our society. There are numerous movies that feature androids doing things both for good and for evil. In almost all instances they showed a very humanistic nature that hasn’t exactly been replicated in reality yet.
In the United States the concept of androids is one accepted with some hesitation. While the concept is fascinating many people are unsure if we should be working on such concepts. How far is too far when it comes to mixing technology and humans? In Japan there is a widespread acceptance and fascination with androids.
However there is still plenty of research that needs to be conducted in order to determine the full potential of androids. Since the research is quite expensive and the backing isn’t really there society will likely have to wait quite some time before we know the results.
