Analytic Geometry

Tuesday, November 13th, 2007

Analytical geometry is completed in the same context as algebra is. The goal of analytic geometry is to define shapes in the form of numbers. This allows a variety of information to be determined from the results. This is commonly done through the use of graphs. After a person has been able to master analytic geometry they are ready to move onto new waters in the form of calculus.

Differential Geometry

Friday, November 9th, 2007

Differential geometry is an advanced area of mathematics that involves the different concepts of calculus as well. This is often done in the areas of science: specifically physics and the theory of relativity. Differential geometry, as the name suggests, studies the differences between two or more objects. This is done by comparing the curves and the surfaces of each one. This is a very detailed and in depth type of mathematics that includes all areas of mathematics.
