Electromagnets

Friday, November 9th, 2007

Electromagnets are simple devices. They are basically a wire that is wound around iron. By itself, winding a wire around iron will not do anything. However, if you add some kind of voltage, this will generate electricity that has a magnet field. This is what an electromagnet is all about. They can also be wound around air, but in that case they are a slightly different thing. They are similar to electromagnets but they are called a solenoid.

Magnet Therapy

Monday, November 5th, 2007

Magnet therapy is a type of Alternative Medicine therapy that utilizes magnets. This means that it utilizes the magnetic field to change things about your body and to help you heal. This is an interesting take on the standard methods of healing and the fact that it makes you look at magnetism in a different way is important. This is one of those things that not a lot of people do but once people learn about it they are intrigued by it and end up trying it out.

Magnetic Field

Monday, October 29th, 2007

A magnetic field is an area on the Earth that has a certain magnetism. Basically, wherever you go on the Earth, there is a magnetic field. It helps you use a compass and determine which direction you are going in. There are all kinds of technical reasons why a magnetic field exists but unless you study magnetism it is not really important to go into too much detail. But if you are learning about magnetism in school then chances are the teacher will talk with you about magnetic fields. If you are a teacher than you will need to know about them to be able to teach them. Either way it is important the students have a proper text book to help them understand what they need to do to learn about magnetism and magnetic fields and that you also understand them well enough to be able to teach them properly.

Magnetism

Thursday, October 25th, 2007

In simple terms, magnetism is the phenomenon that occurs when two opposite poles attract, thus making the two items stick to each other. For example, think about what happens when you stick a magnet on the refrigerator. It sticks, right? This is because the two opposite poles were brought side by side. The opposite will happen when you take two magnets and try to force the same poles together. For example, if you take the positive side of one magnet and try to bring it together with the positive side of another magnet, it just won’t work. The two sides will repel each other. But magnetism goes so much deeper than that. There is electromagnetism which has all kinds of useful applications. One such example is that there are some trains that run on electromagnetism.

Magnetism Experiments

Monday, October 22nd, 2007

Magnetism experiments are things that you can do to help you understand magnetism. These are things that are essential to help gain an understanding of what magnetism is and how it functions. The experiments can range from the extremely simple to the very difficult. That is the beauty of magnetism experiments. You can use them to help you understanding simple concepts or more complex ones such as electromagnetism. These types of experiments are also good to do with your children, especially if they are at an age where they are studying this in school or at home or are interested in the world around them.
