Magnetic Field

A magnetic field is an area on the Earth that has a certain magnetism. Basically, wherever you go on the Earth, there is a magnetic field. It helps you use a compass and determine which direction you are going in. There are all kinds of technical reasons why a magnetic field exists but unless you study magnetism it is not really important to go into too much detail. But if you are learning about magnetism in school then chances are the teacher will talk with you about magnetic fields. If you are a teacher than you will need to know about them to be able to teach them. Either way it is important the students have a proper text book to help them understand what they need to do to learn about magnetism and magnetic fields and that you also understand them well enough to be able to teach them properly.

In general, learning about magnetic fields can get complicated really quickly especially if the knowledge is part of learning about electromagnetism. Electromagnetic fields are mathematically complex and require a lot of thought and understanding. In some engineering programs in college, learning about electromagnets is notoriously difficult for a lot of students. That is because the math and equations behind them can get so complicated it is easy to lose sight of the main objective. It is also very easy to get it completely wrong. If you are in a class like this, you may need to join a study group, visit the professor during office hours, and make sure you take advantage of every opportunity available to you, especially if you don’t understand it.

If you want to understand magnetism you will inevitably encounter the concept of the magnetic field. You can either get an overview about them or you can make it complicated by learning about electromagnets and the magnetic field that is generated by them. Unless you are studying engineering or something similar, however, it is not important to get into too much detail about it. Just take learning about it at your own pace and find resources that will describe things in simpler terms. Remember that you can always look it up on the internet to see what you can find.
