Trees

There are many different kinds of trees in this world, some of them real and others artificial for beauty or as a symbol of something. Trees serve many purposes for use though other than just landscaping and providing us with a tree for celebrating Christmas. Trees help to protect the ozone layer as well as offer plenty of shade on those hot summer afternoons. The process of photosynthesis takes place through the trees and this is what results in us having plenty of oxygen to breath. They also reduce the amount of carbon dioxide that is found in the air.

Trees are used to make many products in our society including paper. More than 5,000 common products come from trees making them a very valuable resource. Lumber that is used to build homes and a variety of other projects comes from trees. There are also many solvents and chemicals that are manufactured from trees.

Many animals live in forests that are covered with trees. They use them for protection, as a food source, and even a place to live in some instances. A careful balance has to be made when using trees as resources because cutting down too many of them can upset the nature balance of such ecosystems.

Trees are an invaluable resource and one that we are continually depleting to use for other means. It is very important for our environment that trees continue to be planted. It can take decades for a tree to be full grown so replacing them is a necessity now. The Arbor Day Foundation works hard to education children and adults to the importance of trees. Last year their efforts resulted in more than 8 million trees being planted around the globe. It also provides information on how to plant them and care for them properly.

There are hundreds of different types of trees to be found. They can grow to be tall and skinny or wide and full. The leaves on trees are very different is size and design as well. The changes of the colors of the leaves as well as when they begin to fall off are signs of the changing seasons in many climates.
