The most well known species of willow tree is the weeping willow. It is believed to be the most symbolic tree in the world because of the green color and the sheer abundance of the leaves on it. The weeping willow is also known in many cultures as a medicine that can cure aches and fevers. Weeping willows can grow from 50 feet to 70 feet high. They can be as wide as 50 feet.
While weeping willow trees can be quite beautiful to look at they are often a nuisance when it comes to having them in your own yard as part of your landscaping. The branches breach off quite easily especially during periods of high winds or heavy snow. They roots of the weeping willows spread out quite a distance so they can get into the sewer system and water drains creating expensive problems. They have also been known to cause foundation problems by getting under the home.
Willow trees are often used for the compound known as Salicin. This is a well known pain reliever that is found in aspirin and other common over the counter pain relievers. They are a common type of tree used in various work working products though the wood isn’t as widely used as oak or redwood trees.
