Earthworms

Earthworms are an important element of the soil because they live in good topsoil and they help make the soil fertile. If you want nice soil or nice compost it is a good idea to put some worms in your soil. As they feed on elements of the soil, the excrement from that process is actually what makes the soil very rich. If you want to make sure that you are taking care of your lawn and grass you may want to see what kinds of critters there are that live the soil. Earthworms are a good thing. However there are some things, like Japanese beetles, that do not do the soil any justice. In fact, they can ruin the lawn and the soil. That is why people spend a lot of money trying to make their soil like nice and to get rid of bugs. However in the case of the earthworms this obsession does not make any sense.

Earthworms have other uses. A lot of schools use them in dissections to help get the student prepared to dissect more complex creatures. The concept of dissecting something could seem a little bit gross and unsettling but it is a good idea to make sure that you can do the proper techniques to dissect before you tackle anything big. Earthworms are very simple in terms of their anatomy.

If you need to buy some earthworms for bait or to put in your compost or in your lawn there are a few things you can do. First, understand that there are a lot of bait shops in areas that have a lot of fishing. These are usually earthworms. So you can just go to the store and get some worms and let them loose in your soil. They will eventually burrow and find a home and proceed to make the soil fertile. If you can’t find any worms in a store there are other ways you can go about looking for them. You may even be able to dig for them. Earthworms are a great part of what makes the soil and the compost so fertile. This will help everyone because it means that there are natural ways to grow things without using fertilizers.
