Goal Setting Games

It is never to early to teach your child goal setting. When children learn to set goals early in their lives, they will more than likely continue the practice into their adulthood. Obviously, when children are very young, the goals should be very simple and the goal planning should be fun, even a game. There are many goal setting games you can play with your children. As long as the children know that the goals they are setting are real and you will expect them to follow the goals, this experience will certainly be worthwhile.

Barriers to Goal Setting and Planning

Why is it that so many people set goals for themselves and neve follow throuh with the goals? New Year’s Day is often spent planning new goals for the new year. The rest of the year is spent in wishing the goal has been achieved. That’s the problem; wishing never made a goal happen especially if the goal was not attainable in the first place.

All of us spend time thinking about our future and wish our lives were diferent, but we really have no idea whatsoever how to fix the negatives in our lives. We set a goal, really want the goal to change our lives, forget about the goal, and never bring it to fruition. We then feel like a failure once again. Most people make the same goal setting mistakes over and over again. Unless we change our goal setting process, we will never improve our lives. Learning from our mistakes will help us to change our goal setting mistakes to our goal setting successes.

At one time or another we have all set goals for ourselves. We more than likely never wrote down the goals but we worked very hard to accomplish the goals. Whether we succeeded or not, at least we tried to set some goals. Basically, there are three types of goals; they are character, academic, and process goals.
