To many people, Advent is another word for Christmas. But for people who know what Advent truly is, this is not the whole story. Advent is actually the period of time before Christmas. It is a time of awaiting and expecting the birth of the Savior. It is celebrated primarily in the Catholic Church. However, most Christians understand it on some level. And different cultures handle Advent differently than others because a lot has to do with how they celebrate this Christian holiday. Some people count down using special Advent Calendars. Others simply attend church services dedicated to Advent.

Advent Wreaths

Advent wreaths are wreaths that you put out at Advent. Basically, the term Advent is the same as saying ‘the Christmas season’. It is the same thing. It is the special time period in December that leads us with anticipation to Christmas. It is the part of the religious calendar where we prepare for the celebration of Christ’s birth. Some people like to decorate with wreaths during that time. It is not necessarily a part of the religious celebration, but it is a way to remind people that Advent is a time to celebrate.

Christmas Season

To many people throughout the world, the Christmas Season is their favorite time of year. And even if it isn’t their favorite, it is one that they greatly enjoy. It seems that a lot of people are happy. There are parties and celebrations as well as gift giving and spending time with friends and family. Basically, Christmas is a celebration of Jesus’ birth. But, it also is a lot more than that. It makes people remember how to relax and have fun. Plus, everything is so well decorated and festive, you can’t help but smile. However, there are some people who don’t enjoy the Christmas Season because it makes them feel unhappy or depressed. There are a lot of complex reasons why this happens. But overall, it is a time for feeling joyous and festive and it is also a religious feast.
