Military Ceremonies

Military ceremonies would not be complete without a color guard. There are several different kinds of military ceremonies out there. And for each of these ceremonies, a color guard in some form is required. The color guard with all of its accompanying flags is an important part of the military ceremonies because it serves as a reminder of our country and what we stand for as a country.

There are so many different kinds of military ceremonies it is often hard to keep track. When someone gets a rank promotion there is a ceremony. There are awards ceremonies, graduation ceremonies, and other ceremonies. And the one thing that all of these has in common is that there is a color guard that has at least the Flag of the United States and the flag for the particular branch of the military that the ceremony is taking place in. If there are multiple branches of the service, there will be multiple flags.

One thing that is really important to military ceremonies is that the color guard be as official and proper as possible. Color guard members should where their special dressier uniform. They should also learn how to walk and march in uniform and the proper way to line up the flags according to rank. There could be certain people who are always called on to make up the color guard for official military ceremonies. Or there could be some people that are called on to volunteer. Getting chosen to be part of the color guard should be looked at as a great honor.

If you are a member of the military, chances are you’ve attended a few military ceremonies in your life. These can be very structured affairs. There is a proper way to go about the ceremonies and there is a proper way that the ceremony needs to include the color guard. If the ceremony is outdoors, for example, there may be an almost parade-like procession of the color guard complete with rifles that get fired off. Carrying the flags during military ceremonies is essential because the flags stand to remind us all of why we are in military dress in the first place. It reminds us of what we stand for.
