Girl Scout Patches

There are many different Girl Scout patches that girls can proudly earn and display on their smock, vest, or uniform. There are different patches for different age groups as well. Daisies are for girls who are ages 5 and 6. They can earn a pin for membership, and petals that form a complete daisy. They earn one petal for completing various learning activities. They can also earn patches for sharing, participating in environmental awareness activities, and earn their Flag ceremony patch for learning the pledge of allegiance.

The next group of Girl Scouts are called brownies. These girls range in age from 6-8. They can earn pins for membership and they will receive their troop numbers to place on their vest. They can also earn numerous patches for learning new skills as outlined by their troop leader.

Juniors are girls from 8-11 years of age. They can earn emblems for their green vest by completing membership requirements. They can also earn various patches for new skills. Girls 11-17 earn various charms for the skills they learn and complete. Depending on the decision of the troop, these charms can be placed on their uniform or on a charm bracelet.

Each Girl Scout should proudly display the patches they earn throughout their Girl Scout years on their uniforms. There are instructions for the right way to place them on the uniforms as well as the exact location. The Girl Scouts of America website also shows pictures of them and where they need to go so that there are no questions.

Troop leaders can purchase the various patches and pins from the Girl Scout store. Since Girl Scouts is a non profit organization, the funding to purchase uniforms, patches, and pins comes from the annual Girl Scout cookie sell. The money that each troop raises stays with them to use. If they don’t raise enough money to cover such expenses parents are asked to help with the additional cost.
