In any given community there are a number of organizations that are known as not-for-profits. These not-for-profits go through a number of legal hoops to gain a status of being a 501(c) (3). One of the ways that a not-for-profit structure is different from their for-profit counterpart is the governing boards. The governing board of a not-for-profit receives no remuneration, but still provides governance and fiscal oversight to the operation.
Due to the fact that a high percentage of both parents work outside of the home, the importance of quality daycare for children is essential. Often, that quality day care experience provides learning opportunities, participation in crafts that increases the dexterity skills of the child, recreational opportunities, proper nutritional snacks and meals and occasional outings. Of course, all of this is conducted in a safe environment and through the use of equipment that is safe.
Every year I get excited about the Christmas photo that will come in the mail from each of my kids. There is a tradition in my family that every Christmas, a family picture is taken and mailed out with the annual Christmas family newsletter. When my kids were young, I decided that I wanted to record each Christmas in a concise way.
Charities are those organizations that provide a unique or set of unique programs within the community that they serve. Often these services are provided to their clients at no charge or are based on a fee in accordance with their level of income. Examples of some of these services provided by charities include the provision of clothing and food to the homeless, delivery of meals to the senior population, youth building programs, energy assistance, hospice care, etc.
In any given community there are a number of physical, mental, emotional, educational and spiritual needs that are being unmet. Generally, these needs are unmet because the needy citizens of that community do not have the resources required to take advantage of those programs offered by for-profit organizations. Therefore, a number of these unmet needs are provided by not-for-profit agencies. Generally, these various not-for-profit agencies provide various services at little or no cost to those who are in need.
Many not-for-profits provide valuable programs within the communities that they serve. Often these services are provided to individuals and families who may not be able to afford these needed services. Therefore, in order for the not-for-profit to raise the needed financial resources they have to engage in an aggressive fundraising program.
I love Poinsettia Christmas flowers. My mother used to buy a lot of them and place them around the house during the Christmas season. The bright red and the milky white ones both make me remember my childhood and all of the great Christmases that I’ve had.
With higher cost of living, the money some individuals had available to support non-profit organization has diminished and these organizations are seeking ways to maximize the donations to support their causes.
