Athletes can be found all over the world in an array of sports. The skills and abilities of some athletes are naturally better than others, allowing them to stand out from the rest of the crowd. Some athletes participate in sports because they love the game and want to spend as much time training for and playing that particular sport. Others strive to do well in sports for the glory that comes with being on a winning team.

Football has long been called the favorite sport of America, and judging from the millions of fans who proudly where their team’s jersey to watch the games, I believe it. While football is a team sport, individual football players stand out from the rest and get the recognition.

Hockey Players

Hockey has long been viewed as a very violent sport, but if you look past that the game can be quite appealing. Hockey players have to be expert ice skaters at the speed of lightning. Trying to control the puck in those circumstances certainly isn’t easy, but most of them make it look second nature. Hockey players also engage in on the ice brawls and body contact that makes the game exciting to watch, but also a sport with the highest risk of injury.

Olympians

Olympians are those individuals who train to participate in some part of the Olympic Games. Top athletes from all over the world attend training at the various centers set up for them. Olympians do not get paid for their training time or even for their participation in the Olympics. Since so much of their time is tied up in training they really don’t have the opportunity to hold down a job. Their expenses are covered by scholarships, donations, and grants.

Runner

Running is a great way to get the cardio exercise that your body needs, but most of us really don’t enjoy running. There are a select few runners out there though who have achieved plenty in running events. They truly love being able to push their body to reach new goals. A runner can train for speed to run sprints or train for endurance to complete a marathon. Regardless of the type of training, dedicating your time and energy to being a runner is a good way to stay healthy.
