Learn Soccer Rules Before Playing
You want to get a soccer game started but don’t know how to play. That’s ok, because soccer is fun, but it’s also very easy to learn. To learn soccer rules, all you have to do is log onto to one of the many websites dedicated to the sport. Or, you can pick up a book on the subject. But if you really want to learn soccer rules for yourself, your best bet is to play with others who have played before. By getting on that field and getting dirty, you’ll learn the rules in no time at all and you’ll also have the time of your life.
The Teams Take The Field
In soccer, there are two teams. The teams consist of members not exceeding eleven members but they must have at least five. Two of the members of each team are the goalies. They stand in front of the goal, or net, and they make sure the other team doesn’t score. A team scores when the ball goes into the other team’s net. The only problem is, and this is the strictest of all soccer rules, neither team can use their hands, except for the goalie that is, but that will be covered later.
The teams must use their feet to pass the ball to each other in the hopes that the ball will go into the other team’s goal. This poses a problem, however, as the other team will try to stop this from happening. With all those feet kicking everywhere, sometimes there are accidents and this is when a foul can occur.
Fouls
A foul occurs whenever a person other than the goalie uses their hands, or whenever someone is tripped, etc. When this happens, the team who had the foul committed against them gets a free kick. The team member who had the foul committed against him or her gets to try to kick the ball into the goal while the other team merely stands there, protecting their sensitive parts with their hands.
The Goalie
In soccer rules, only the goalie can use their hands. They use their hands to try to prevent the ball from going into the goal. They only generally use their feet whenever a failed attempt is made, then they will kick the ball into play.
These is a good run down of soccer rules that should ensure that you get a basic grasp of the game. So, grab your friends, take the field and have fun. Just remember to keep it safe, keep it clean and make sure you have a referee on hand to make sure everyone plays fairly.
