This trend according to this person is nothing new. Even if the 1970’s, the Chinese had special schools that train kids after reaching the age of three or four and will be trained to compete 8 and sometimes 12 years from now in events such as the Olympics.
Some people in the forum agreed with the article written by Mark. This is because it was the East Germans and the Russians who first used this and was later passed on which made these countries once dominate most of the sports in the international arena.
The online forum can be read by people not only in the United States but by anyone who has a computer in different parts of the globe. This will give someone from the same country where the athlete came from a chance to comment on the remarks made on the player.
Mark did not write this to badmouth anyone. The objective of the forum was to inform the public, which is like what people often see in the editorial section of the newspaper. The only difference with an online forum is that people are able to give feedback faster, which could be in favor or not to the writer.
The online blog also gave public service announcement should there be tournaments like table tennis held in town. This will give the readers time to see the competition instead of just watching it at home on television.
With the success of Mark’s forum, other people have done the same. This will comment on the performance of certain athletes after a match as well as inform people of other events.
This is one way to get more people active in sports instead of just reading it in a magazine or seeing it on television.
This makes the discussion much more exciting because tournaments are held all year round and a player who did not perform well in one match could improve in the next one.
The Internet has given people a voice especially for those who can’t be heard. This has given people like Mark the only chance of being a sports commentator or a journalist. Not everyone will agree with the words that are written but in its pure essence, this is what freedom of speech is all about.
No one is right or wrong in giving an opinion. After all, these are just the perceptions of those who just watched some athletes play a game of table tennis.
