Xterra Triathlons
Xterra triathlons take place all over the world offering plenty of great adventures for athletes to participate in. They range from the desserts to the jungle and everything in between. The swimming portion of the events take place in lakes and even the oceans. Xterra offers various triathlons for beginners as well as experts in the field. People of all ages can participate in them.
Racers earn points when they participate in Xterra triathlons. These points are used to determine who gets to race in the National triathlon for the grand prize. There are qualifying slots in the different age groups for men, women, and youth. The number of people that get to participate depends on the age group. In the 15-19 year old group four people are allowed to compete at Nationals but in the 25-19 age group the top ten men and the top ten women get to go to the National level.
Xterra offers two types of races to participate in ñ The American Tour Race and the Championship Series. The American Tour races are shorter events that take place in different regions of the United States. There are eight different regions to choose from including the North East, Mid Atlantic, South East, North Central, South Central, Mountain, North West, and South West. It involves a 750m swim, 20 bike ride, and a 5k run. The longer Championship Series involves a 1.5L swim, 30k bike ride, and a 10k run.
To assist you with prepearing for the Xterra triathlons there are Ambassadors in the various regions who can assist you. They are all amateur athletes that enjoy the outdoors. They also are skilled trainers so that that you can get in the right types of training for the triathlon you are going to be a part of.
