For example, when you use a machine that is put out by another bank, all you can really do is withdraw money and maybe view your balance. But if you visit an ATM machine that your bank sponsors, you can do other things such as make deposits.
When you open an account, ask for a list of all the ATM locations that your bank has. Keep the list handy in case you need it. ATMs are only convenient if they are in a good location and are easy to use.
