VCR And DVD Recorder Combo Units
VCR and DVD recorder combo units are very handy and full features devices to own. I’ve lived with just a VCR and I’ve lived with just a DVD player for periods of time. I have to say I need both! When DVD players first came out I tried to make the switch a complete and lasting one, throwing out many of my old VHS movies and replacing them with DVDs instead.
Over time I discovered that not everyone is as excited about DVDs and DVD players and recorders as I am. Well, that and many of my favorite movies and music videos were made by companies that lack the budget to record their media onto DVDs.
For various reasons I have decided that I need both a VCR and a DVD player. There are just too many different videos that have one or the other format available. So for a while I had a DVD player stacked on top of my VCR.
Finally, they came out with a VCR and DVD combo that had enough useful features on both components that I decided to try one out. Wow, what a modern convenience! Now I can go to the video store and not have to pay any attention to which format a given video is available in.
More recently I treaded in my first DVD / VCR combo unit for one that also has a DVD recorder built in. Combined with the DVR functionality, there’s really no limit to what I can watch, record, store and burn to DVD. I can even share recorded video with friends and family via the internet.
Of course I shared video with friends over the internet before, but it involved some fancy hardware configurations and extra copying work. Now I can just burn recorded video straight to a blank DVD disc and pop it in my personal computer’s DVD drive and send video through email. For those that don’t have DVD codecs installed on the PCs, I’ll sometimes convert video to Divex so that anyone ca view it on their PC.
I recommend purchasing a DVD VCR combo if you have a mix of both formats. If you like to send video to friends or colleagues, one of these devices is a must have. You’ll be glad you purchased one.
