Is it Ethical to Find Phone Numbers Free?

There are plenty of ways to find phone numbers free that go way beyond your local telephone book. Sure, there’s nothing wrong with looking up a listed number in the phone book and calling that person. But what about looking up unlisted phone numbers on the Internet? This is a very gray issue when it comes to right and wrong. Sometimes, finding unlisted phone numbers can be to everyone’s benefits. Other times, doing this can be harmful. It all depends on the circumstances under which you are seeking the information.

For example, maybe you are looking for an old boyfriend or girlfriend. Your search could lead to a wonderful romantic reunion, or it could lead to disaster. Sure, your old flame might be happy to hear from you, but what if they’re not? If they’ve moved on and have gotten married or had children, they might feel very uncomfortable hearing from you. They might even feel that you have invaded their privacy. These days, stalking laws are quite stringent, so be careful when looking up old loves — especially if they’re unlisted.

Looking up old friends is a bit less risky. If you had a close friend in school that you lost touch with over the years, a friendly phone call can be a great thing. Even so, you might even want to write first to break the ice. It can be quite awkward to call someone you haven’t spoken to in years. If you send email or snail mail correspondence, however, you open the lines of communication and get a better idea about whether or not renewing communication with your old friend is a good idea or not.

It’s honestly up to each individual whether or not it is ethical to find phone numbers free. Sometimes it might be perfectly acceptable, other times it might be a totally bad idea. You should sit down and examine your motives in depth before calling anyone. Think about the potential reactions of the person you are calling, and think about whether or not they are going to be pleased or upset that you’ve tracked down their unlisted information. By acting with common sense and respect for yourself and others, you can come to the best decision.
