Airport Taxis

Thursday, November 8th, 2007

Airport taxis can be a lifesaver to get your from the airport to your hotel or other place of destination. Since many people don’t want to leave their own vehicle at the airport when they travel it can be a viable option. Airport parking is often quite expensive and if you plan to travel for several days you will definitely save money having a taxi ride back and forth.

Airport taxis are also great for those who are flying in for business. It is easier then renting a car and trying to find your way in a strange city. You can also use the travel time to return phone calls, check your e-mail on your laptop, and other tasks you need to spend time doing.

For the most part you will never have trouble finding an airport taxi. They often line up at the exit of airports by the baggage claims. They often drop someone off at the airport then circle around to wait their turn to picture a passenger leaving the airport. This can save you having to drag your luggage a long way to wait in line for a rental car or a hotel shuttle.

If you will have a large group of people that need to be picked up at the airport you can call ahead to one of the taxi companies and reserve a taxi mini van or shuttle bus. This will allow all of them to travel together. The cost of this will be less expensive than paying for multiple taxis. You can also prepay for them if you wish to prevent them from having the expense of the taxi ride to cover on their own.

There are some airport taxis that are equipped to meet the special needs of those in a wheelchair or with other disabilities that need accommodating. You should contact the different taxi companies in the area in advance so they can help you find a good solution. Individuals with disabilities should be able to enjoy traveling just the same as everyone else.

Great Lakes

Sunday, November 4th, 2007

The Great Lakes are several large lakes that are partially in the United States and partially in Canada. They are called the Great Lakes because of how large they are. They are freshwater so they can’t be called seas, but they are big enough in size to be that. The Great lakes consist of Lake Huron, Lake Ontario, Lake Michigan, Lake Erie, and Lake Superior. They can be remembered by knowing the acronym HOMES (Huron, Ontario, Michigan, Erie, Superior). They are actually considered the largest group of lakes on Earth that have freshwater not salt water in them. It is also important to understand that there are some smaller lakes that are part of what’s known as the ‘Great Lakes System’ but since they are considerably smaller in size, they are not part of the ‘Great Lakes’ themselves.
