Make Up

In our society, looking young and beautiful is very important. Almost all women use make up to help them look the best they can. They can get so used to wearing it that they refuse to let anyone see them without any make up on. Choosing the right make up isn’t easy because the market is saturated with different brands, colors, and types of make up. Most people have to try different ones to find what works best for them. Make up manufacturers are always trying to come up with new advertisements and appealing packaging to entice consumers to purchase their brand of make up.

Not all make up is made the same though. There are different ingredients used in make up that can affect the skin for someone who has very sensitive skin. It can also lead to your skin drying out or becoming too oily. There are some brands of make up that contain moisturizers, sunscreen, and even anti aging ingredients to help keep you skin hydrated and beautiful.

Plenty of research has been conducted to ensure the make up products on the market are safe for you to use. This hasn’t always been the case though. In the 1800’s most of the make available contained white lead and mercury. This caused many people to suffer from skin problems and even hair loss.

Researches have found the use of make up dates back to the Egyptians in 3100 BC. The tombs found from this time period show women with green eye shadow as well as color on their eyelashes. The Roman philosopher Plautus once wrote that women without make up is like eating food without salt. While make up seems to be something found in almost all cultures, the degree to which it is used as well as the color schemes vary greatly.

Make up is commonly used in the arts for performers including dancers and actors. In the film industry there are professional make up artists available to assist with applying it correctly. Make up is even applied to men in these industries but it isn’t as noticeable as it is with women. Of course, who can forget the wonderful make up on the various clowns we see at the circus, parades, and birthday parties!
