Modern Magicians Hold The Secret To Black Magic

When most conversation turns to the subject of black magic, it conjures up images of witches stirring a large black iron pot and warlocks in black tuxedos with tails and top hat. Movies and television have expounded the images of practicing the occult to include everything with a darker meaning and offers these beliefs as the secret to black magic being a belief in the occult.

The perception of black magic is its intent for the end result to cause damage, pain or injury. Often depicted in books and movies as the presence of the dark forces of evil, at times associated with Satanism, many religions decry its use, claiming the secret to black magic is the belief in un-Godly forces. However, for many there is little difference between the so-called black magic and white magic with the performance of illusory tricks containing the secret to black magic.

Many of today’s magicians, most often referred to as illusionists, are great entertainers that can capture an audience’s attention as well as its imagination. Most tell a tale while conducting a trick to keep the audience’s mind off what their hands are doing. Their use of white magic is to entertain, with the secret to black magic often entering the picture while the audience waits for something bad to happen, which it rarely does.

Audience Beliefs Is Half The Performance

When it comes to stage presentation, the secret to black magic is to convince the audience something darker from the occult is in play. Constant chatter, wardrobe for the magician and assistants plays into the role of misunderstood forces, making the possibility of something bad happening keeping the audience’s interest peaked. Very similar to a performance of white magic, the secret to black magic is keeping the illusion hidden from the audience.

Some practitioners of black magic rarely perform in a public forum, preferring instead smaller audiences, as few as one, on which to practice their craft. The belief is it is easier to convince people of a darker presence one at a time than in a crowd where an audience members’ chatter can destroy the secret to black magic the magician is trying to attain.

While some claim all magic is the same type of performance, with white magic used for certain audiences, others claim the secret to black magic is having forces other than the magician’s illusionary abilities hold their attention. For most it is the stage presentation and environment that leads watchers to form their own opinion of existing forces.
